Volunteer

We love our volunteers!

Volunteers make a lasting impact in the lives of the women who live at Merci’s Refuge. From one-on-one mentoring, hanging out on evenings or weekends, teaching classes, helping run errands and much more, our volunteers play an important role in supporting the participants in their journey toward greater freedom.

If you have some margin in your life, are encouraging and reliable, support our mission statement and statement of faith, and desire to make a difference in our community, please consider filling out our online application (see below) or contact us with any questions.

Volunteer Roles

Overnight Volunteers (Magnolia House & Merci’s Refuge) – Come in the evening (usually around 6:30p) and connect with residents over conversation, games, or interacting with their little ones. Provide accountability to expectations through your presence. Insure doors are locked at 10p and retire to your private room for the night. Notify on-call staff if any issues arise. Leave whenever you’re ready in the morning.

Co-Lead Classes & Activities – Help facilitate a weekly class or periodic activity with residents.

Mentoring – Enjoy building relationships and encouraging others? Connect with residents weekly, help them accomplishing goals, and modeling healthy relationships.

Childcare During Programming – Love the littles? Help our mommas participate in group activities or classes by watching their young children on-site or nearby.

Hospitality – Help staff make spaces warm and inviting for the next resident. Lend a hand during “welcome week” orientation and meals.

Administration – Serving behind the scenes more your thing? Assist with data entry, taking messages, and keeping important systems running smoothly.

Property Maintenance – Handy with a screwdriver, unclogging a sink, pulling weeds, or figuring out why an appliance isn’t working? We can use your help!
